In a world full of “eco-friendly” labels and sustainability claims, young people need the skills to distinguish genuine responsibility from misleading messaging. This is why Y-EDCO includes educational content on greenwashing and conscious consumer choices.
The project materials explain common greenwashing tactics, such as vague claims, lack of evidence, and highlighting small green features while hiding broader environmental harm. By learning how to question labels and look for real transparency, young people can make more informed choices in their everyday lives.
This is an important part of environmental literacy. Understanding pollution also means understanding how information is presented — and why critical thinking matters in sustainability.
